We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we treat accessibility as part of health equity.

What we have done
Keyboard navigation
Every menu, tab, accordion, dialog and tool works with a keyboard. A "skip to main content" link appears first. Press / to search.
Screen readers
Semantic headings and landmarks, labelled controls, live announcements for filter results, and text alternatives for images.
Colour and contrast
Text meets AA contrast in light and dark themes. Colour is never the only way we show meaning; urgency labels always include words.
Captions and transcripts
Our interactive films have captions on by default and full voice-over scripts.
Readable type
Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for low-vision readers. Text resizes to 200% without loss of content.
Reduced motion
If your device asks for reduced motion, animations are switched off.
Downloadable accessible formats
PDF resources have an accessible web version alongside them. If you need a resource in another format, such as large print, plain text or audio, please ask.
Known limitations
- Narration in the interactive films uses the text-to-speech voices on your device, so voice quality varies. Captions and scripts are always available.
- Some older PDF resources may not be fully tagged. We are fixing these as we review them.
- Third-party sites we link to may not meet the same standards.
